After passing the 3,600 participants mark, the Gran Fondo Felice Gimondi Bianchi is certainly going to celebrate a successful edition in 2015. A few dozen places remain, but they look set to be filled soon, so anyone keen to take part should sign up now.

The event is taking place next Sunday, May 10^th, and the organisers are happy with the cap on numbers that they have enforced: “If we went ahead with more registrations it would mean giving up some details and this is a thing we don’t want to do. The Granfondo Gimondi Bianchi is recognized for its high organizational and security standards. Those who come to this event know that everything is set up to work to perfection.” 

The Gran Fondo, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the yellow jersey won by Felice Gimondi at the 1965 Tour de France, will have the highest ever number of nations represented, 28. Bianchi, the main sponsor, has invited nearly 200 guests from around the world to Bergamo to celebrate 130 years since the company was founded.

Organisers, GM Sport have revealed some very interesting figures, not least that 30% of the entrants are under the age of 40, confirming the resurgence of Italian cycling amongst the younger generation. 6% of the people registered for the Granfondo Gimondi Bianchi are women, while the average number in other Italian events is around 4%.
