The Southern Sportive from Petersfield in Hampshire takes to the road for the ninth time on Sunday (14th September). Launched in 2006, it's one of the South's original sportives, and remains one of its best, featuring a rich and varied balance of roads and scenery.

The event starts and finishes in the picturesque grounds of Petersfield's Churchers College, and the ride quickly gets you out into the beautiful countryside and steep gradients of the South Downs National Park. A choice of four routes, from 71km up to the staggering 192km Gauntlet means that there is a challenge for everyone within the event. After nine years of refinement from its experienced team of organisers, the Southern Sportive has earned an enviable reputation as a slick, well run and hugely enjoyable day out.

Entry prices have been held below the average for a sportive over the years, but the quality of the event is up there with the very best. First class route marking is backed up by multiple support and response vehicles, four well stocked feed stations around the course, ride times published the instant you cross the line and hot food and drink at the finish. Every finisher also gets an attractively designed, heavyweight event t shirt.

Online entry closes at midday on Friday (12th Sept), when news on availability of on the day entry will be announced. Riders who enter before that Friday deadline will be sent full event details, maps and GPS files ahead of the event day.
