Cycling really is booming in Norfolk, and with the return of the Norfolk Cycle Show to The Forum in Norwich on Sunday 21 June enthusiasts will have the chance to test ride new bikes and try other bits of kit on show.
Sponsored by Pedal Revolution and supported by a whole host of cycle shops including Electrifying Cycles in Cromer, organisers are expecting over 4,000 visitors, an increase on last year.
Organisers, ActivatingCiC will be hosting the show which brings together local cycle shops from the area to showcase new ranges of bikes and accessories, from handmade bikes to ultra-streamline carbon frames.
With free entry, the cycle show aims to cater for all types of riders from complete beginners to club riders. Activities include a custom build test track and children’s learn to ride area, plus a dedicated section for disability cycling.
Organiser, Luke Rumbelow says it’s great to showcase the region's cycle shops and what they have on offer: “Here is a chance for local bike shops to get in front of lots of budding cycling fans and riders, club cyclists, commuters and families. Last year was a great success, and we hope this year’s show will be better.”
Neil Turner from Pedal Revolution says there are now ample opportunities to get involved in cycling: “As well as the Cycle Show, we put on racing events for amateurs and semi-pro’s, plus cycle training for youngsters and complete novices. So there is no excuse not to get out on your bike.”
With the Tour de Broads returning again this year, participation in sportive events has increased in the region significantly.
Rumbelow went on to say: “The great thing about the Cycle Show is that it helps promotes local events and rides including the Tour de Broads. There was a massive turnout at last year’s Tour de Broads, and with a new venue and route this year, together with special guests Barry Hoban and Dean Downing, we expect to see another dramatic increase in participation numbers - which is fantastic news for cycling in Norfolk, especially as riders get the chance to take in the Norfolk Broads with thousands of other cyclists.”
The Cycle Show will run for one day only at The Forum in Norwich from 10am - 3pm. Free entry.
