Whilst the eyes of the world turn to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games, Mid-Wales will be hosting its very own World Alternative Games in the UK's smallest town, Llanwrtyd Wells, this August. 

Just as in Glasgow, the road cycling world is well catered for at the World Alternative Games, and you are all invited to take part. Sunday 10 August sees the Devil's Challenge 2 hit the Powys roads with a choice of 50, 83 or monster 122-mile options to choose from. 

After a 16-mile warm up, all three routes will tackle the infamous Devil's Staircase to really get your heart racing and legs screaming. After that, the 50-mile option takes on the Tirabad climb, whilst the 83 and 122-mile options go on to experience some of the most stunning scenery the area has to offer such as the Usk Reservoir, Bwlch Cerrig Duon and the climb to Crai. 

Organisers, Red Kite Events, pride themselves on offering truly challenging rides in epic surroundings, and the Devil's Challenge 2 is certainly no exception. Climbing legs are a must with 1,387m (50 mile), 2,627m (83 mile) and an eye watering 5,004m (122 mile) of climbing thrown in. 

The event is fully supported with well-stocked feed stations, fully waymarked routes, professional timing, broom wagon and medical teams on hand should you need them. 

Priced at only £15, the Devil's Challenge 2 is set to become a classic in the sportive calendar and places will go fast. Many riders rave about the quality of Red Kite's events, so why not experience it for yourself in stunning Mid-Wales. 

Away from the riding the World Alternative Games will be taking place in Llanwrtyd Wells for the whole weekend. This is an ideal opportunity to bring the whole family for a fun weekend away with something for everyone - riders and non-riders alike.
