by Holly Blades
The HotChillee London-Paris 2016 hosted young riders from South Africa and the UK giving them the opportunity to be mentored by riders including ex Tour de France winner Stephen Roche and Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt.
The HotChillee Development Rider Programme has been running since 2013 - encouraging the development of young talent in the UK and South Africa. Recent success have seen South African riders Nicholas Dlamini and Shameeg Salie sign pro contracts with team Dimension Data as Continental Riders.
On the HotChillee London-Paris this year the young riders shone again with South African rider Thula Mxenge winning the Wattbike Men's Yellow Leader's Jersey and Elynor Backstedt, daughter of Magnus Backstedt, winning the G!RO Women's Jerseys at 14 years - the youngest ever winner and a rider to watch in the future.
Marco Abrahams also won the Continental Sprint Jersey - with the Sigma Sport Women's team claiming the remaining women's jerseys.
