Simple Cycle Tours: Peaks 175
10/06/2016 - Derbyshire village of Castleton - Sportive

Our newest tour!
The peak district really does live up to its name, offering some of the best road cycling climbs in the country. The 70 mile ride with over 2000m of elevation on the Saturday will challenge all but the most seasoned of amateur road cyclists, but with an option to shorten the ride, we've made these peaks truly accessible too.
ITINERARY & ROUTE
FRIDAY
We start and finish in the pretty Derbyshire village of Castleton. There's no set start time, so just drop your car off or take the short 2 mile ride from Hope Train Station and leave your bags with us.
The first leg of the route is a 48 mile loop including the Cote de Bradfield, famous for its inclusion in the 2014 Tour De France. There is an option to shorten this route to 40 miles.
Make sure you make it back in time for one of our epic barbecues, which (weather permitting) we will serve up in the grounds of Castleton Losehill Hall.
SATURDAY
Beautiful but brutal from the start, this 70 mile ride passes through the famous town of Bakewell after 20 miles. Plenty of options further along the route for a spot of lunch too and also an option to shorten the route should you wish.
The route finishes in Hartington, where we stay the night on Saturday at the stunning Hartington Hall. The Devonshire Arms serves an excellent pub dinner for those who'd like to join.
SUNDAY
It's back to base on Sunday, but this time we take a Western route across the peaks. Plenty of elevation and some stunning valley passes, but a slightly shorter 57 miles to allow you time to make your way home on Sunday night.
