Ride It! King Of The Downs - A Tough Day Out

by Henry Peacock

If you're looking for a lung busting, leg testing ride that combines stunning scenery with classic climbs and exhilarating descents, you'll find everything you want when you enter the King of the Downs.

The 115mile route squeezes in 9,000ft of climbing over 10 iconic climbs in Surrey, Sussex and Kent. These include Leith Hill, The Wall (Kidd's Hill) and Titsey Hill - and you will see some of the best of the countryside along the way. There is also a half length version as well for those not wanting such a big challenge.

Test Yourself On The South Downs

For those feeling competitive, Evans Cycles are also holding a competition to see which cycling club can have the highest number of riders at the event. Club members just have to state the name of their club when signing on, and the group with the highest number of riders will win £5 off their next RideIt! event for all members.

The Evans Cycles in house RideIt! events team organise two extra tough challenge rides a year - and the King of the Downs Sportive is the first for 2013. Starting from Evans HQ at Gatwick, this is a ride planned on home turf by organisers who know their terrain.
