Entry Opens Today for the 2017 Cotswold Spring Classic

by Holly Blades

Entry for the ever popular, sell-out, Cotswold Spring Classic opens at 9am on Monday morning (17th October). This Easter Monday event has fast become an early season must-do ride for many, giving riders an early season test of their legs.

For 2017 the event has teamed up with charity Against Breast Cancer to help raise money for research into combating a disease that affects so many families - giving the event its new (full) title of the "Cotswold Spring Classic supporting Against Breast Cancer".

"We're really excited to be partnering with Against Breast Cancer" Event Director Andy Kirk told us. "It's a disease that affects so many women and can have such devastating effects on families. The work ABC are doing could make the ultimate difference to people's lives - so it's important for us to help them raise much needed funds for their work".

Richard Martin, Events Fundraiser at Against Breast Cancer went on to say "We at Against Breast Cancer are delighted to be supported by Velo Events. It is fantastic to be able to increase our focus in cycling with two established sportive rides in the Cotswolds."

The 2016 event saw an increase in numbers of 25% to 1,000 entries - and still sold out well in advance, and with no increase in entry numbers for 2017 organisers are expecting a full field once again.

The event continues to be supported by Vittoria and Zefal, which means there's always that something a little extra in the riders goodie bags - and because it takes place on Easter Monday, it wouldn't be right to not include (the now must have!) Easter egg each rider!!

"We've got some exciting new plans for 2017" Andy Kirk continues "and are looking forward to announcing them shortly. It'll bring a new element to the Easter weekend for both those taking part in the sportive, and also those that aren't!!"

With Easter being later than in 2016, the event takes place on Monday 17th April from its traditional Cirencester base. Offering riders a choice of three fully signed routes, motorcycle outrider support, medical cover, mechanical back-up, broom wagon, electronic timing and more - it's everything you'd expect from a European style sportive. Once back at the event HQ riders will be treated to a hot meal, a goodie bag and a finishers medal - and all for just £28.00 per rider.

Entry for the 2017 Cotswold Spring Classic supporting Against Breast Cancer opens at 9am on Monday (17th October) and is sure to fill up its 1000 spaces quickly.
