2013 edition of the event is now full - $1.7 million was raised for their charity partners in 2012

The Trois Etapes, the pro-am cycling event, have announced their roster for the second edition of the event, which takes place 26th - 29th July 2013.

The event, which takes place in the heart of the French Alps, will feature 14 charity teams and last year raised $1.7 million for their charity partners making it the largest pro-am charity cycling event of its kind and one of the largest in sport.

The event is designed to give riders the chance to experience team cycling under race conditions, with the full support that a pro would have in a Grand Tour; it includes a flat Prologue and three mountain stages. The event is designed to incentivise tactical team riding. Each team of 8 riders (7 amateurs and 1 pro) has its own team car and Directeur Sportif. Every rider has a radio link with their team car and the Race Director.

Each rider raises funds for their charity team. Next year, some fantastic new charity partners will be joining the competitive charity teams that took part in the inaugural edition of the Trois Etapes.

The Anne Frank Trust, 1001 Fontaines and Shooting Star CHASE will be competing for the first time along with EMpower who have both a US and European team. Prostate Cancer UK and Walking with the Wounded are both returning, together with Right to Play, World Bicycle Relief and the dZi Foundation who are each entering multiple teams.

With the team roster now full, there are only 11 individual rider places left with many charity teams now oversubscribed. Individual riders wanting to compete in the Trois Etapes 2013 will need to register their interest now to be able to ride and raise funds for the Trois Etapes’ charity partners.

Former Tour-winner Carlos Sastre will be returning to the Maurienne valley for the Trois Etapes next year. The yellow jersey winner will be joined by a host of leading pros who will each head up the 2013 Trois Etapes charity teams; in 2012 these included TTT World Champion Kristof Vandewalle and former Round the World Record Holder Mark Beaumont.
