Entry for the 2016 Tour de Mon sportive is now open. The event, organised by Always Aim High, takes cyclists to the most beautiful and iconic locations on the wonderful island of Anglesey. Boasting possibly the most beautiful coastline in the whole of the UK, Anglesey is one of Britains best kept secrets waiting to be discovered. 

Taking place on Sunday 21 August 2016 the Tour de Mon has a choice of three adult routes (Mawr - 103 miles, Canol - 75 miles and Bach 40 miles) or the Teulu Family ride (seven miles), meaning the event truly offers something for cyclists of all abilities. 

Register for the Tour de Mon before midnight 2nd November and you'll save 10% off your entry fee. Furthermore, if you sign up in person at the AAH Store in Llangefni, Anglesey you'll save an additional 10%. 

Earlier this year a record field of over 1,600 cyclists saddled up for the event. One of the main highlights of the sportive is the Flying Mile, the only competitive section of the Tour de Mon which gives riders the chance to race against the clock for a perfectly straight mile on the runway at RAF Valley.  

The fastest male over the distance was Gerallt Roberts, who recorded an outstanding time of 01m 59s. The quickest female rider was Steph Duits, who clocked an impressive time of 02m 12s. Both cyclists received a bespoke prize and Roberts was presented with the Christopher Wright Memorial Award.  

Always Aim High Events Director and Anglesey resident, Nigel Kendrick was delighted with the success of the event: "It's been an unbelievable day! The response we've had from cyclists and supporters has been incredible. It was also great to see so many children take part in the family cycle and children races."  

Kendrick continued:  "As an Anglesey resident it's great to see so many people coming from afar and seeing how fantastic this island is. The majority of these people have stayed in local accommodation, eaten at nearby restaurants and spent their money in other Anglesey businesses, which has an absolutely huge positive impact on the local economy.
