Anglesey, North Wales is set to welcome thousands of keen cyclists and passionate supporters for the Tour de Mon this Sunday, 23 August.

The sportive, which starts and finishes at the beautiful Newry Beach, Holyhead explores the most stunning and scenic roads around the Isle of Anglesey.

Organised by local cycling enthusiasts and award winning event organisers, Always Aim High Events. This Sunday will see the Tour de Mon storm into its third year.

One of the main highlights of the sportive is the Flying Mile. The Flying Mile or ‘Milltir Mellten’ as it’s known locally is a timed mile stage of the Tour de Mon. The fastest male and female will both be awarded an incredible bespoke prize.

All of the 1,500 riders in the field will be tackling the flying mile alongside their chosen route of either the Bach (40miles), Canol (75miles) or Mawr (103miles) route.

Event planner and Always Aim High Events Director, Tim Lloyd, is excited for the weekend to get underway: "It will be great to see the Tour de Môn enter its third year this Sunday. It looks set to be the biggest and best edition of the sportive yet with well over 1500 cyclists expected to enter!”

Lloyd continued: "Everybody at AAHE can’t wait until Sunday, we work hard throughout the year to ensure that we deliver unforgettable, high quality events and the Tour de Môn will certainly be no different.”

AAHE pride themselves on not only the events themselves, but also the fantastic festival atmosphere generated. The event village this Sunday will once again be at Newry Beach in Holyhead.

Event Manager, Rob Samuel has called for people to come and support the sportive as well as getting involved in the attractions and entertainment: “As with all Always Aim High events we will be organising plenty of local food vendors, attractions and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, so if you're in the area make sure you come down to the event village – it’s going to be a great day!”

The Tour de Mon kicks off the Ride Anglesey festival.  Ride Anglesey is a two-week festival of cycling events leading up to the Tour of Britain Grand Depart. For more information on ride Anglesey click here
