Think of East Anglia and what images come to mind? The fens, the forests or the seaside, probably. In truth however, the area offers all of that and so much more. For cyclists, it is sometimes overlooked for hillier parts of the UK but East Anglia is truly coming of age. 

Quiet roads, everlasting views and friendly people ensure that there is something for everyone. Recognising this fact, Red Kite Events are returning to the area on 3rd August 2014 with The Breckland Devil sportive. 

Billed as a 'tough challenge', despite the lack of elevation compared to Red Kite's Welsh events, The Breckland Devil will be based at the Breckland Leisure Centre in Thetford - an area long associated with mountain biking and road rides. 

The venue is within easy access of London, the South East and the Midlands, and offers riders something a bit different from the Welsh sportives and challenges that Red Kite arranges. 

There are three route options to choose from. The 57-mile option has one feed stop and 448 metres of climbing. The 81-mile version offers 724 metres of climbing and two feed stops; whilst the mammoth 121-mile route has three food stops and conjures up 1160 metres of climbing. 

All routes will head north from Thetford on Norfolk's pristine and largely very quiet roads. With stunning scenery and large manor houses to view, the miles will fly by and it should make for a great day's riding. 

The rides are non-competitive but electronically timed. The feedstations en route will be well-stocked with home made flapjacks, Welsh cakes and savoury options courtesy of The Drover's Rest Restaurant, as well as sports nutrition products from High 5. 

Registration is £25 for all three distances, with very limited on the day entries available.
