Relaxed and professional organisation with an international ambience on closed roads. I've ridden the Etap five times in all weathers and the organisers are always on top of the logistics and planning even when half the field bails out sat the first food stop due to poor weather.

Awesome day 15,900 ft climbing, descent from Madeleine fantastic, last few k up to Glandon a crippler especially as I had stupidly not brimmed the bidons at the water stop half way up. Final climb purgatory in 30 degree heat and much harder than it looked in profile! Happy just to finish - took 9.04 hours!!! Backside has just about recovered, glad I'm not doing Pyrenees Etape...
