We have often been told (by our riders ! ) that the TOTW sounds very ......relaxed , like a quiet little jaunt around the country lanes ??? That maybe we should change the name to something like Murderous Uphill Challenges from Hades ? Or similar ? After all , East Hall Hill , the 1st climb of the day was the old Kent Hill Climb course until a few years ago , if you get up that ok then the 3rd climb , Pixot Hill , is easily the equal of "The Wall" over in Ashdown Forest and has had more than a few riders walking the last 100mts . And thats just two of the six main climbs , there are other little bits of tarmac out there which rise gradually without you noticing ...at first ! Its not all about climbing though , the scenery changes constantly from woodland to open , from village to pasture , our very popular feed station at half-way is allways well stocked with a wide variety of cakes , sweets and other goodies . The final climb up the" Col d'Ulcombe" is 7k in total although the real incline doesnt begin until the last 2k , this is timed from the bottom to the top and the quickest man/lady will each get the Polka Dot Jersey . All riders have chip timing , we have mechanical support out on the route and our signage is specific to our Sportive and has been widely praised for being clear and concise . Having said all that the name stays the same !
