The inaugural Etape Suisse event took place recently in the stunning surroundings of Davos, Switzerland.  The acclaimed event provided riders with the most luxurious cycling experience ever held in the location.

At the launch evening earlier this year at the House of Commons, the organisers set out to deliver something new, something different and on a luxury scale not yet seen in sportives. The first Davos event was a 5 star experience all the way - from the moment riders arrived in the wonderful resort they were treated to the very best in accommodation, cuisine and cycling support. The base for the event was the 5 star Intercontinental hotel, where riders enjoyed a champagne reception, spa and massage service, and the rich ambience of a great hotel.

Out on the smooth roads the Etape Suisse catered for all whilst maintaining the ethos of doing something a little bit different.  Groups of riders challenged themselves on the tough mountain climbs on new carbon bikes provided by BMC.  All riders were given expert bike fitting before the ride and all had full Etape Suisse kit.

One of the unique elements of the Etape Suisse was the e-bike group.  Those who didn't feel up to riding the mountain passes under their own steam rode Stromer electric bikes - meaning they too could make it to the Michelin star lunch stop and enjoy chatting to friends and family about the experience.

All riders were given chocolate brownies made by the famed Mosimanns, and after the event everyone attended a gala dinner with a Mosimanns inspired menu.  It was here that £25,000 was raised for the Laureus Foundation.  Riders bid on lots including a Fabian Cancellara signed jersey, a day out on the road riding with Wiggle Honda owner, Rochelle Gilmore and a unique day playing tennis at Wimbledon with Tim Henman.  All in all the entire event was a great success.

Event Promoter, Robert Simpson said: "The first Etape Suisse was beyond our dreams.  The feedback was superb and we delivered what we set out to do:  A unique ride with inclusive and luxury features that left everyone smiling.  We have now announced our dates for 2015 and look forward to an even bigger and better event".

Etape Suisse will be back in 2015, returning to Davos from 10 - 13 September and entries are already open.
