Wales is quickly becoming a must visit destination for cyclists all over the UK and around the world. With its dramatic and varied landscapes, the Welsh countryside offers miles of breathtaking cycling routes for riders of all abilities.
World's End Feels Exactly Like Its Name Suggests
The country plays host to two of the premier sportive events on the UK cycling calendar, the Wiggle Dragon Ride and the Etape Cymru, both now organised by leading mass-participation events company, Human Race.
The Etape Cymru takes place on Sunday 9th September 2012 on fully closed roads and has been labeled as one of the UK's toughest closed-road sportives. Starting and finishing in Wrexham, the route has been designed to test riders of all levels.
Geraint Thomas Test Rides The Route
Passing through quaint Denbighshire and Wrexham villages such as Llangollen, Carrog, and Minera, riders we be given the chance to take in the spectacular views of the Clwydian range (an area of outstanding beauty), and tackle lung busting climbs such as Panorama, The Shelf, World's End and the infamous Horseshoe Pass.
The event has received modifications from 2011 and could not happen without the support of Wrexham and Denbighshire councils. Local residents are also pledging their support and will be out in force to cheer riders along the route.
"We are delighted to welcome back the Etape Cymru for a second year," said Mohammed Mehmet, Denbighshire County Council's Chief Executive.
He continued: "We have worked hard with Human Race to ensure that 2012 event will be a success. The wonderful scenery, local support and opportunity to ride on closed-roads will make the day very special."
Atop The Horseshoe Pass
Taking over the event for 2012, Human Race have gathered the comments from the 2011 riders and invested in key areas such as the start process, feed stations and the integrity of the closed roads. Human Race believes the riders will receive an excellent experience that reflects the companies approach to world-class mass- participation events.
More information on the Etape Cymru can be found on: www.etape-cymru.co.uk. Entry for the Etape Cymru costs £55.
