The first edition of the Haute Route Pyrenees will be held from the 1st to 7th September 2014, crossing a legendary course from Catalonia (Spain) to the Basque Coast (France), featuring seven timed stages, 800 kilometres, 20,000 meters of ascent and 20 legendary Pyrenean cols.
Check out www.hauteroute.org for full information about the Haute Route Pyrenees and it's sister event, the Haute Route Alps.
The concept of the Haute Route Pyrenees (Catalonia-Basque Coast) will be identical to that of the Haute Route Alps (Geneva-Nice), with both events being held annually. The peloton will consist of hundreds of cyclists from all continents across the globe, traversing this stunning mountain range in seven timed stages, which will include an individual time trial mid-week. Riders' first motivation will be to finish the race and to share an experience of a lifetime. All participants will be ranked individually (Solo) and as part of a team between 3 and 9 cyclists (Team).
New riders can expect an unforgettable 7 days in the mountains, surrounded by breath-taking scenery and like-minded competitors. 94% of 2012 riders for the Haute Route Alps were 'very satisfied' or 'satisfied' with the course, 95% were very satisfied/satisfied with the diversity of the stages, whilst 83% judged the difficulty of the course to be at the right level. By limiting the number of entries for each event the riders are ensured of a high quality and unique experience - as close to riding a big event like a pro as one is likely to get!
The Entry Fee for 2013 includes many benefits for all riders taking part, some of which are listed below:
- Complete set of Haute Route Alps cycling kit, travel bag, back pack and rubbish bag
- Presence of hundereds of marshalls, motorcycle escorts, medical team, mechanical support etc
- Individual timing system, daily rankings (solo and team and by age and gender), daily awards ceremony
- Refreshment stops, hot meal at finish of each stage, evening drinks part, and daily safety briefing for the next day's stage
- Bike park, bike wash, massage service and recovery area, mid-week laundry service
