The super weather conditions of last year were sadly not replicated for 2012, but that did not detract from the fact that this is one of the most scenic routes of any sportive.. The route was well signed and marshalled at key crossings. There were some good challenges with a couple of the steeper sections making me have to focus. UKCE are excellent in allowing participants to upload their courses onto those with Garmin devices. This certainly assisted my pacing, but the time I had in mind was derailed by the extent of the queuing at the feedstops. These events are becoming a victim of their own success, so with increased numbers, UKCE need to look at increasing the number of energy drink and water dispensers in particular. I started getting too cold in that long line. The loo provision was also inadquate so again something to reconsider for next year.

I never saw any outriders during the ride(unless i had my head down)

and i rated the signage down because there was a particularly dangerous downhill corner with wet leaves that was very slippery and had now warning or slow down signs.

It really was a brilliantly organised event, that sure as hell was punishing but extremely well supported and we all suffered together in peace and saftey.

I did the Epic with my brother and we enjoyed every second of it. It was hard and in places painful but I wouldn't have missed it. Maybe a bit more training for the hills next year.

Well organised, testing route. Food stops could use a bit more variety but otherwise no complaints.

Great Weather, good course, well sign posted. This was a lot harder than the New forest sportive the week before. I used the free high 5 gel just before the last big hill Butser which helped! Good event.

Hard hard hard event!!! legs still hurt. The course was well sign posted, has some killer climbs and a nice flat piece at the very end to get you home. Well run event, with cool cakes at the end! Feed stops were also well stocked with eat natural bars and free energy bars /gels. Nice weather made it a hard but good day.

Great course and we had fantastic weather. The timing results are very annoying as some of the riders did not complete the full route OR changed to a shorter one. You still have these down as gold etc. It would be easy to get the riders who don't do the course they entered to fill out a course change form so that the results are correct and not a complete mix up!

Very good signage and Course.
Good feed stops, parking and check-in. I appreciated, and used, the Squirt Lube mid-ride lube facility and the Muc Off cleaning equipment and materials afterwards. One of the 2 supplied GPS files worked on my Garmin Edge 705 and was useful.
The published distances, award target times and checkpoint positions were a little askew, though less than UKCE's first event last week. The fallible "log you on a laptop" start time method required some shouted re-checking and re-checking at the start from some riders. These are NOT criticisms considering it is only UKCE's 2nd event.
Suggestions for improvements: Chip Timing for credibility. "XXkm to End" signs. Earliest start 08:30hrs at this time of year. Seeded starts (am beginning to think that I have got BO after another solitary ride for 80% of the duration)

Mutly on Blue/White Kuota, XXL size.

Great ride in wonderful conditions very tough in some places. I was disappointed that I spent 90 miles or more or the 100 riding on my own so hope that some thought could be given to grouping riders of a similar non club standard such as myself. It seemed as lot of money to pay for this event when Evans Cycles rides are £10 and broadly similar. Having said that the route was very well marked apart from one split that could have beedn better. All in all a lovely day for a ride...

Good event on an excellent course: climbing felt a lot more than the 1209m advertised for epic route. Overall signage was good although green/purple small signs could be improved for visibilty. Feed stations well stocked and spaced. Would have expected electronic timing for the price though.
The major area that definitely needs improvement is the starting procedure: starting off haphazardly in unseeded small groups covering any 3 of the courses does not encourage good group riding: after a few miles found myself on my own and remained that way for about 70% of the ride - thought I may as well be on a training run! If UKCE can get this sorted I would consider future events
