100, 62 or or 38 miles of glorious virtually traffic free roads. The route takes you to the highest village in Scotland and passes the birthplace of the pedal cycle.
The event HQ is the majestic Drumlanrig Castle. The event is organised by a large group of volunteers from local churches, so all proceeds from the sportive can go towards the work of Tearfund, bringing practical help and hope to some of the worlds poorest communities. The 2013 date is the May day weekend, Saturday May 4th. Same glorious venue ( scene of stage 6 finish in the Tour of Britain 2008). Our experienced team are well practiced with the manual timing system and we see no need to charge you an extra fiver just to have the same job done electronically. Same with the entries, Rolf prefers to stick with the personalised service.
In addition to the main feed back at Drumlanrig. There will be intermediate banana and drink stations out on both legs and all route options.
Continuing pressure on council budgets means that the condition of some of the roads adds to the challenge, this is probably not an event for super expensive carbon wheels. As always, all funds raised will go to the work of TEARFUND. Please note, in order to maximise the proceeds for tearfund, we ask taxpayers to include a gift aid declaration; the entry "fee" is therefore free and we just ask for a donation. As most sportives of this quality charge at least £30 you may consider this,or more, to be the right amount. We are fundraising seperatly to cover the costs of the event, so every penny you send goes directly to Tearfund.
