South Coast Spectacular - for CHECT
05/05/2013 - Brighton - Southampton - Weymouth - Charity Ride
Rating:
A moderate ride of 140 miles over 2 days.
The South Coast Spectacular ride takes a pleasant south coast route between Brighton and Weymouth, stopping overnight in Southampton.
In 2013 the ride will be exclusively in aid of CHECT. The registration fee is just £99 and the minimum fundraising target is £1000.*
The challenge consists of two legs of around 70 miles. It's a relatively gentle and scenic ride but winds or rain along the coastal route can make it particularly tough at times. Starting in Brighton, the overnight stop is in Southampton before heading for the pleasant seaside resort of Weymouth at the end of day 2.

CHECT
The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) is the only UK charity dedicated to providing support to families affected by retinoblastoma (Rb). They work to help raise awareness of Rb nationally, and believe that everyone should know children can get cancer in their eyes, and it is treatable. They run campaigns to reach the public and tell them about retinoblastoma (Rb). CHECT also aim to target health professionals with information about this rare cancer, which can help them to make an early referral, and they work closely with the retinoblastoma teams at the Royal London Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital, and related charities and bodies. A considerable amount of the money raised by Childhood Eye Cancer Trust also goes towards funding research projects specifically related to retinoblastoma.
