South Somerset Screamer Sportive
10/11/2013 - South Petherton - Sportive
Days to go until event: -4
Rating:
Join us for an incredible day's riding, taking in some of Somerset's most famous sites including Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor and Ham Hill.
We will be starting at Adventure Café HQ, at Frogmary Green Farm just outside South Petherton. We will then begin our ride north, heading through South Petherton itself and out across the Somerset Levels towards Cheddar before flying up the stunning (but lung busting!) climb that is Cheddar Gorge. After winding your way up through the gorge, climbing 370m in the space of 4 miles you are rewarded with stunning views of the Mendips and a chance to rest your legs and refuel with some food and drink before the exhilarating descent down into Wells. Upon leaving the famous cathedral city our next destination will be visable almost straight away; Glastonbury Tor. We will skirt the bottom of the ancient tor before continuing south towards Somerton where we'll stop for another food and drink stop. We'll skirt the edge of Yeovil before hitting the sting in the tail; Ham Hill, whose gradients hit almost 20%! From here we will drop back down to our start point at Adventure Café HQ for hot drinks all-round and a hard-earned bite to eat!
