Colomba Cardio Classic
21/03/2015 - Richmond, North Yorkshire - Charity Ride
Days to go until event: 4
Rating:
The Colomba Cardio Classic is a charity cycle ride in the beautiful northern Dales, organised by Colomba Cycle Club. This will be the second year for this particular ride and it follows in the successful footsteps of the Colomba Chemo Classic in our efforts to raise money for good causes. Again we are aiming to raise money for the CHUF charity based at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
The daughter of one of out Colomba CC riders, Madeleine, was born with a Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect, her heart had two holes and only one valve.
Madeleine underwent an 8 hour surgery in September 2011 to repair the heart and a third hole which was discovered during the surgery. Madeleine spent only a week in hospital and has since made an amazing recovery thanks to the skill, expertise, determination and care of the surgeons, doctors, consultants, PICU nurses and the nurses on the ward.
Since September 2011 Madeleine has gone from strength to strength and her parents attribute it to the Freeman Hospital. As a thank you they wish to raise money for the CHUF charity as without their on-going fundraising Madeleine and her parents would not have received the time, care and support they did.
