The Rut sportive traverses a number of midlands counties but starts and finishes in Britain's smallest county of Rutland. Rutland's motto is 'Much in Little' which provides for a great cycling challenge.
Both of our routes venture to the south-east of the Uppingham HQ where the terrain is reasonably flat before both routes take in Borough Hill up to the Somerby feed station near one of the highest points in the area. Later it's the notorious Launde Abbey climb with more undulations before the final, but notable climb of Kings Hill into the ancient market town of Uppingham.
From a cycling perspective, considering the area is so central and accessible the roads are unusually quiet and remarkable well kept. So think little traffic; good surfaces; wide and well-manicured grass verges.
At KILO TO GO we go the extra mile to make sure you have a great day:
No need to queue - we don't want you queuing at the start of the day - we post your 'Ticket to Ride' pack prior to the event so that you don't have to come to the registration desk on the day.
ALL our finishers receive the following, no matter when you sign up: A HIGH5 taster pack, a pro-quality 750ml water bottle, a useful drawstring goodie bag, a finisher's medal, a certificate, and a short video of the moment you cross the finish line, plus more....
All events feature: class leading UHF electronic timing, event photography from one of professional cycling's best known photographers and his side-kicks, well stocked feed stations, and mechanical support. Toilets are available at all our HQs and feed stations for your comfort.
Medical Safety: Out on the route we provide motorcycle outriders and paramedic backup for your safety. Add to that our highly visible broom wagon that'll sweep up any riders that require taking back to the HQ.
Great signage: Riders always tell us that our routes have the best signage. Our highly visible magenta signs will direct you around the course and clearly mark route split points so that you always end up on your chosen route.
