Wrynose or Bust: A continental-style cycling sportive event of 115 miles. Starting from Lancaster, Wrynose or Bust tracks through the hills of the southern Lake District, with over 1000 metres of ascent taking in severe climbs over Grizebeck, a 25% climb up Wrynose and a 30% descent to Little Langdale before returning through Hawkshead, the Grizedale Forest, Haverthwaite, Bigland Hill and Sunnybank.
The Bay Dash: 68 miles that still requires a reasonably good level of fitness, following some of the Wrynose route before detouring through the lovely Cartmel valley.
The Silverdale Sling: A 36 mile sportive but no less of a challenge for all that - following the Lancashire coastline around Silverdale, Arnside, Sandside and the surrounding AONB district (this region is one of only 35 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England).
These three routes all start on the same day from the Halton Army Training Camp near Lancaster and they are fund raising events organised by The Rotary Club of Lancaster. All net income is donated to our chosen charities. This year we are supporting Derian House Children's Hospice (www.derianhouse.co.uk) and CancerCare (www.cancercare.org.uk) with smaller contributions to other Rotary charitable projects. To date our riders have helped us raise over £9000, this year we hope you can help us to do even better.
