The Ware's Essex Sportive covers territory never before seen on a SportiveUK event. We've chosen to start this ride from Ware at the fantastically located HQ of Allenburys Sports Club. From here you'll have easy access to the countryside, heading over from the East of Hertfordshire in to the west of Essex, carving your way through the centre of the County taking in picturesque village like Finchingfield (voted one of England's prettiest villages)! Not only that but the Autumn colours are spectacular at this time of the year. Making for a memorable ride.
Ware's Cambridge? has been one of the most talked about Sportives of last year, we've decided to apply some of that magic to Essex. Ware's Essex? will take place on Sunday the 2nd of October.
We've designed this route so that you'll be able to take advantage of some of the great roads that the 2013 TDF took in and experience some beautifully tarmaced surfaces. Whatever the weather throws at us, this route is made for the beginning of Autumn, keeping your motivation high for the coming months.
The Last Century of the Season
With the autumn months fast approaching, SportiveUK have come up with the perfect way for you to get your last big bike ride on the clock. Whether it's the Long 100 or the short 40, there's something for everyone looking to keep those legs moving. Don't fancy the full Essex 100 loop? There's the medium distance of 70 miles that will take you as far as Finchingfield, you'll be able to tuck into the home made flapjacks, cheeses and crackers. There's even a fun 15 if you're not quite up to the 40.
All routes start and finish at Ware, Hertfordshire, where you'll head out North east through the picturesque villages, and then onto sweeping countryside roads of rural Essex. The fast rolling roads of the 100 will take you out towards suffolk, coming within 5 miles of the county town of Sudbury.
Fun 15 Miles:
Fancy a short ride? Supporting a friend or relative? Or maybe you just fancy a short Sunday morning ride. £10 will get you around a well signed short course where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the day.
40 Miles:
£18. The 40 miler is a great route for the beginner, or for those seasoned riders who just fancy an easy day in the saddle. The 1600ft of climbing will give your legs a relatively easy ride, allowing you to explore picturesque villages and enjoy the beautiful scenery that this ride takes in.
70 Miles:
£20. This is the perfect distance for those who have had a steady season and managed to keep the miles going. With 3100 ft of climbing, it's not the hilliest of courses and will allow those wanting to stretch their distances to do so, finishing their season on a high. Bundled with scenic views and fast, rolling countryside roads, what more could you ask for!
100 Miles:
£20. What better way to finish your season on a high. This 100 mile route will give you the motivation to keep the training going right up until the end. With 4100ft of climbing and rolling countryside lanes, this route has been designed to get you your last 100 miles of the season without too much of a struggle. The long loop also passes the bike friendly Blue Egg cafe stop, where you'll have to keep your eye out for Alex Dowsett. Resist temptation to pop in though, as you'll only be a mile away from the feed stop.
