Taunton Flyer Sportive

The Taunton Flyer sportive is now in its 4th year. Departing from Taunton Racecourse, the Taunton Flyer is themed around the wartime airfields of East Devon and Somerset. Our routes will take you on an exciting journey of dicovery around the historic airfields of RAF Exeter (Exeter Airport) RAF Dunkeswell, RAF Upottery (Smeatharpe), RAF Culmhead, RAF Merryfield, and RAF Westonzoyland. This is a great  sportive with lots of nice flat open roads combined with a couple of testing climbs into the Blackdown Hills.

The Taunton Flyer offers you a choice of  three routes. The Spitfire (55 km / 34 miles), The Dakota (114 km / 70 miles), or the Wellington (178 km / 111 miles). All routes are signed and fully supported and have well stocked feed stations. 

This sportive is also electronically chip timed and has Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal standards for both age and gender categories. Medals will be awarded to all finishers.

The Taunton Flyer Sportive forms Stage 1 of the 3 Counties Cycling Challenge, a South West Sportive Series. Stage 2 is in Devon (Moor 2 Sea Sportive) and Stage 3 is in Cornwall (Land's End 100). Please visit www.3ccc.uk for details.
