Routes and start times
Three routes will be available, including long, classic, and short.
Short route - view here
29.8 miles, 841 feet of climbing.
The routes chosen are designed to provide an opportunity for everyone to take part. The short route begins with a relatively flat ride, taking an anticlockwise heading from Glastonbury Rugby Club across the Somerset Levels under the shadow of the Mendip Hills towards Wedmore. The route then continues toward Mark Causeway before turning south to the Polden Hills. It then heads easterly, through the quaint Somerset villages of Edington, Shapwick, and Ashcott before returning to the Rugby Club.
Classic route 70 miles - view here
70.9 miles, 2643 feet of climbing.
At Edington, riders head up and over the Polden Hills, continuing in a southerly direction to cross the Kings Sedgemoor Drain. The route passes to the east of Bridgewater along the 'Flats' towards Burrowbridge and tracks alongside the River Parret to Stathe where the long route splits. The medium route continues to Curry Rival South of Langport, passing Muchelney Abbey on its way to Martock. After crossing the A303, riders pass to the North of Yeovil before dropping into the old Roman town of Ilchester. The riders then head north to the east of Somerton and Street with fine views of Glastonbury Tor on the way back to the Rugby Club in Glastonbury itself.
Long Route 100 miles - view here
99.7 miles, 5077 feet of climbing.
The long route lies predominantly on the Somerset Levels, nestled between four areas of outstanding natural beauty - Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills, Blackdown Hills, and Cranborne Chase. The long route deviates from the medium route at Stathe towards Taunton via North Curry and Creech St Michael before heading south towards the Blackdown Hills. After climbing Staple Hill, the riders descend towards Chard, passing the reservoir on the way to Chaffcombe. The route then heads north towards Dowlish Wake and its famous cider mills. Riders then drop into Ilminster before passing through the quaint Somerset villages of Stocklinch, Barrington, and Shepton Beauchamp before re-joining the medium route at Kingsbury Episcopi for the same run back to Glastonbury from Martock as described above.
