This sportive generates vital funds for registered charities. Although not mandatory, we also encourage riders to raise sponsorship for their own great causes. This ride sold out last year and our events are usually oversubscribed with a significant waiting list - we expect the same again this year. There are unlikely to be "on the day" entries.
In 2016, we had a 87.5% approval rating (riders who would recommend to others) and 83% said they would be riding again in 2017. In 2017 we had a 93% approval rating ! Completely unheard of and we plan to do even better in 2018, with more closed roads, better routing and a better Manc experience. More is planned for your families and friends as they wait to cheer you over the finish too.
The "Full Manc" is an epic and tough 104 miles and well over 8800ft of climbing - including several severe tests. King of the Mountain and Queen of the mountain prizes will be measured over the Werneth Low Climb, a real leg burner, with iconic views of Manchester as you crest the top. Expect a tough, but an enjoyable ride with varied terrain as you skirt Manchester, cross Cheshire, skirt the edge of the Peak District, the slopes of the Pennines and the rolling hills of North Manchester. Expect to see some amazing scenery and hidden gems and enjoy great camaraderie.
There is a shorter 100km "Half Manc" route, which also includes the Werneth Low climb, but turns back to the finish in the Rochdale hills near Edenfield. Don't be fooled though, his is still a tough challenge.
We will supply 4 feed stops (4 on the Full Manc, 3 feed stations on the Half Manc) with free energy gels, energy drinks (our sports drinks and gels are supplied by Secret-Training), energy rich food, we will have mechanic stations, first aid cover, full signage, paper maps if needed and marshalls at key points en route.
It's a long day and post ride, as well as your finisher's medal, we will provide free hot drinks, baked goods, complimentary massages to help with your weary legs and some free photos of your ride ....there's one or two other surprises in a goodie bag as well.
Whilst you ride, your families can enjoy a free day pass to the David Lloyd North Manchester Club - swimming pools, steam room, sauna, gym, classes, restaurant and there will be music, food and beer (chargeable) at the finish tent. And when you finish the ride, you are welcome use the facilities too. The ride starts and finishes at the club too, so why not make it a family day.
Tour de Manc are a not for profit company with no paid employees...all monies raised (less essential costs such as insurance) go to registered charities.
