An excellent and very tough event - I did Y Cawr, the long route, which I measured at 106 miles. Much harder than the 4 rating it is given here - I measured it at just under 2,900m of climbing (I'd give it an 8 or 9 on the scale that's applied to the events here). The hardest Sportive I've done in the UK. Very well organised, especially in its first year, with good feed stops, showers and a welcome hot meal at the end. Very well chosen route, showing off the best of the wild, remote and relatively overlooked county of Ceredigion. It takes in beautiful coastline views, Alpinesque mountain ascents and wild moorlands. The middle route (Y Mynach) took in the best of the same route as well, and those I know who rode that enjoyed this as much. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone - I did it as part of my preparation for l'Etape du Tour, and it was perfect in getting me ready for that.

I have no doubt that people will be talking of this event for weeks to come and what a great event it was to. So many events these days seem to go out of their way to find the steepest nastiest climbs they can get their hands on to throw at the riders. Why this is, I couldn't say as most riders are quite able to find these kind of hills themselves if that's what they are looking for. However this event offered a surprisingly diverse route, from seaside scenic cruising to alpine style climbing in the mountains this event had it all. Through careful planning the organisers have hit on a perfect route that both challenged the riders but rewarded them with fantastic scenic riding but at the same time skilfully offering a realistic challenge for the riders that was as tough as the rider made it for themselves.
A big thanks to all the volunteers / marshals etc. for doing an outstanding job and being so friendly and welcoming, you were truly the icing on the cake. Many thanks

A brilliantly organised event. Lots of marhsalls lining the course who were all very friendly. The food stop was well stocked with energy drink, gels, flapjacks/cakes and helpful marshalls. The scenic route was one of the best I've done. Quiet roads but all in very good condition surface wise. Ample signs and very well organised for such a small event which will hopefully grow. I did the middle distance event at 65 miles. Lots of good climbs and descents as you'd expect in Wales. Will be back next year.
