In 2015 the Lincoln Grand Prix is the National Road Race Championship, and accordingly the Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive is the Championship Sportive. Join 2500 riders in the National Championship weekend, with the chance to watch world class road racing the day after the sportive. Recent winners of the National Championship include Team Sky's Sir Bradley Wiggins and Peter Kennaugh, and also Mark Cavendish.
The icing on the cake for your day out on the bike is the Michaelgate climb. The Championship Sportive is one of the few sportives in the UK that attracts a crowd to cheer you to the finish at the bottom of historic Lincoln Cathedral. The cathedral is visible from several points on the route as far as 30 miles away and there will be signs to help you pick out the landmark.
When you enter online there is an option to say a few words about yourself, which will be read out by the commentator on your arrival at the finish.
We try to make sure that the Championship Sportive is an experience not just for the riders but their family and friends too. We have a text message service integrated into the chip timing system, so anyone supporting you on the day can be notified of your approximate arrival time on the finishing climb.
Choose from four routes - 97,76, 58 or 30 miles - through quiet picturesque lanes in the challenging Lincolnshire Wolds. Both routes finish with the cobbled climb of Michaelgate in the centre of historic Lincoln, giving riders the opportunity to experience the type of riding the pros face the following day.
The 30 and 55 mile routes take in less of the hills of the Wolds and are perfectly suited to those new to cyclo-sportives.
