Wiggle Dragon Ride Sells Out in 2.5 Hours

The Dragon Ride has established itself as one of the most popular events on the sportive calendar, and the 2012 edition looks to be no different, as 3,000 places sell out in just 2.5 hours.

The places, offered on a first come, first basis have sold out. "Riders’ strong appetites for the new route and location have ensured that initial entries have been snapped up in under 2.5 hours which is incredible," explained Lou Lusardi, Event Director of the Wiggle Dragon Ride.

Remaining places into the event are now only available through a ballot system or through several charities - these are in high demand and are also expected to sell-out quickly. Riders entering the ballot will be informed if they have been successful on 31st January 2012.

The Wiggle Dragon Dragon Ride will take place on Sunday 10th June 2012 at Margam Park, PortTalbot, Wales. As part of the UCI Golden Bike World Series, the Wiggle Dragon Ride 2012 is the most eagerly anticipated events on the road cycling calendar.

The crowning glory of the Wiggle Dragon Ride 2012 will be the 206km Gran Fondo route, which includes 3350m of climbing. The stunning new venue of Margam Park also adds to the wow factor of this iconic event.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the Wiggle Dragon Ride had been bought by Participate Sport, owners of Cycletta and the Cornwall Festival of Sport. The takeover is expected to bring some positive changes to what is already one of the most popular sportives on the calendar.
