Rating: 86.7% based on 16 reviews -
2012 sees the 9th running of the Dragon Ride. One of the original UK cyclosportives, voted as the UK's favourite by readers of Cycling Weekly for the past three years. For 2012 the event moves to the stunning parkland venue of Margam Park near Port Talbot South Wales, situated just a few hundred metres from junction 38 of the M4 and just a few miles from the main line railway stations at Port Talbot and Pyle. The event will be held on Sunday 10th of june 2012.
The change of start/finish venue has allowed he organisers to introduce some roads not used before and to re-introduce the "hill with no name2 or "Devils Elbow" used on the first four Dragon Rides. Both the Gran Fondo and Medio fondo will see an increase of climbing distances, the Medio at 1875m and the more difficult Gran Fondo at 3350m. (All distances and timings approximate).
A short "Corto" ride of 37km is also included providing less of a physical challenge.
Extensive changes to the starting proceedure should vastly reduce the time riders have had to wait to get away from the start. Timing issues from 2011 have been resolved.
