This year the Dartmoor Classic is offering you a chance to try your hand at Road Racing. The event will take place on Saturday 23rd June 2012, starting at 18:00 hrs from Abbrook Park Sports & Social Club. The event is the ONLY British Mass Participation Road Race and is open to BC Race Licence Holders (Cat: Elite, 1, 2, 3, and 4) and a 'Go-Race' Category for those who do not hold a BC licence and would like to try Road Racing. Places are limited so if you would like to take part you really do need to book in early. The Race will be up to the top of Haytor, the iconic climb in which local rider Jon Tiernan-Locke secured his title as 'King of the Mountains' title in the 2011 Tour of Britain. The race will also be a fantastic 'spectator sport' for friends and family, or yourself if you are not participating so please do come allong and support the race if you can.
Using the sportive HQ the race will be neutralised to Bovey Tracey. Riders will then set off in category "waves" to tackle the iconic 3 mile climb of Haytor.Haytor climb was the major battleground of the 2011 Tour of Britain with King of the Mountains winner and former Mid Devon rider soloeing clear to gain maximum KOM points Entry to this massed start hill climb road race will include event timing chips by Race Timing Systems. Non BC licence holders can enter the "Go Race" event and their licence cost will be included in the entry fee
